On Monday, West Virginia football announced a new, yet old uniform combination for the upcoming season. On a social media post, the program revealed that the Mountaineers would don the 1965 old gold & blue uniforms. The combination features the light blue state logo on the old gold helmet.

It will be the 60 year anniversary of the team that won the Southern Conference under Head Coach, Gene Corum. That would be Corum’s last season at the helm of the WVU football program.
About two hours before the news broke, the program dropped a hint with the social media post seen below.

This got fans on the edge of their seats in anticipation for the news to drop that the old uniforms would indeed be making a comeback.
As of the writing of this article, it is not yet known during what game these uniforms will be worn.
